Michigan Wolverines Vs Michigan State Funny
After missing the first of the expected matchups due to COVID, Michigan basketball and Michigan State finally got to square off at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
The Wolverines, of class, are unranked, merely MSU entered the game ranked No. 10 — which fabricated for a assuming proposition for the maize and blue, to keep the road and beat a superlative 10 team. Could Michigan pull off the upset?
The showtime one-half was a back-and-forth affair, with 7 lead changes and 7 ties. Michigan led by as much as vi, while the Spartans took a four-point atomic number 82 into the half. And then, in guild to pull off the upset, the Wolverines would have to get some second-one-half mojo going in hostile territory.
But then the rails came off.
Michigan couldn't get anything going offensively and certainly couldn't stop the Spartans. The second-half woes were such a huge factor, the Wolverines only managed three points in the starting time eight minutes, as MSU took a 15-bespeak lead.
It was as well much for the maize and bluish to handle, and the iii-game winning streak came to an end, equally MSU won, 83-67.
Here are our v takeaways.

Nosotros've talked for the past two weeks about how the Wolverines have played with much better, more than enhanced free energy than what nosotros had seen in the get-go half of the season. From the Illinois game forward, the free energy has been much amend, and that has continued for the maize and blue.
We saw Michigan with active hands, diving for loose balls, rebounding with impunity, and moving with the fast-paced Spartans quite well.
What didn't go well was Michigan's bench, which contributed naught first-one-half points and six overall.

A big reason why Michigan was in this game was because the defense was constantly keeping MSU off-guard, forcing turnovers, getting all those rebounds. But the Spartans notwithstanding scored at above a l% clip, regardless of how decorated the Wolverines' easily were.
What really kept Michigan going was the fact that information technology forced 13 turnovers, which gave the Wolverines that many more offensive opportunities. But, Michigan State was nonetheless also good offensively.

The past few games, nearly everything was falling for the maize and blue. Unfortunately, that wouldn't happen in East Lansing.
Michigan shot a paltry 15.8% from 3 in the game — compared to MSU shooting 50% — which played a big difference, especially considering the timing of the Spartans' 3-point makes. From the floor in general, Michigan only managed to hitting 37.1% of its field goals. Y'all're not going to beat the No. 10 team in the state with numbers like that.
Of form, the Wolverines had to come downwardly a piddling from the hot-shooting we saw in the Indiana and Northwestern games, but to this caste, information technology's not inspiring.

Going on the road for a rivalry game, it'southward only asking for a disaster when information technology comes to officiating, but that actually wasn't the case in this 1.
Michigan wasn't excessive fouling until belatedly in the game — with five in the starting time half and 11 in the 2d — simply it really didn't take much advantage of beingness in the double bonus, either. The just consequence was maybe when it looked like MSU had two hooks-and-holds on the same play, but neither were called on review.
Still, in a game like this, when it seems like officiating can turn a game on its head, the Wolverines were quite well-disciplined — a welcome change from some of the recent outings we've seen.

Dickinson wasn't exactly unstoppable, having gone 8-of-19, but he was the goad in this game for the offense, and the team'due south leading scorer with 25 points overall.
Just we too saw some great play from the other big human, Moussa Diabate, who managed 11 points and as well had 9 rebounds, 3 blocks and a steal. Caleb Houstan managed ten points.
